Here in the Allentown PA area we are experiencing a plague of “stink” bugs from China. While relatively harmless, they really smell bad when you handle them. If I used a regular vacuum to suck them up my whole house would smell bad from the recycled air but thank Goodness we have a central vac and all the smell goes outside as we suck up hundreds of these buggers everyday!
We recently purchased a short hose (15 ft.) and it works great upstairs next to the skylight where the bugs gather in the sun; the short hose is easier to maneuver in the smaller space, than the long hose.

I did a little research, and sure enough, these stink bugs first showed up in Allentown, Pa...you can read about it here. If this central vacuum was not vented to the outside, then they would have that stinky smell wherever their central vacuum was located. So, as I said, just one more reason to vent your central vacuum system to the outside. Major central vacuum manufacturer's recommend venting to the outside, read what they have to say here.
Indulge me with just one more customer email from one of our exhaust fan customers. This one is too funny. The stink bug story was totally true, but this customer just wanted to have fun with us. But just in case, we do not make any claims about the miracle working power of Nutone exhaust vent covers...(our customers are just too clever!)
My new vents cured my 12 foot long intestinal parasite! When doctors told me nothing could cure me Central Vacuum Stores did! All I had to do was order 2 new vent covers then sit back and wait a couple of days then they arrived as promised! I installed them and WOW! not only did my bathrooms look better but then I also found out I didn't really have a killer parasite! Coincidence???? I don't think so. Thanks Central Vac! Spiffy new vent covers and no killer monster parasites! Nobel Prize Service at a great price!
