If you have a central vacuum system or are considering installing a central vacuum system you need to seriously consider purchasing a wet interceptor for your system. At Central Vacuum we feature two different brands with different capabilities. In one of my other posts I discussed the Aqua-Air interceptor. It is a great product that allows you to use your central vacuum system like a traditional hot water extraction machine. You can put water down and then suck it back up. This is an incredible plus for families with small children and pet owners (not to compare children and pets, but they do both make unbelievable messes). We also sell a considerably less expensive product called the DustMate. The DustMate is used only to pick up liquid. Everyone who has a central vacuum system should have one of these products. It gives your system incredible versatility.
Between Christmas and New Years this year the CIO of Central Vacuum Stores had a plumbing disaster at his house. Because of a clog, the wax ring under the toilet broke and water from the entire plumbing system was backing up into the master bathroom. Water was spilling out of the bathroom onto his hardwood floors He used the DustMate in conjunction with his central vacuum system to pick up the water. The DustMate has a four gallon capacity and he had to empty it at least four times! He told me it was a lifesaver. If he didn't have it, he would have had to go out and rent something to suck up all the water, which would have cost him the precious time he needed to get the water off of his beautiful maple hardwood floors.
